Insurance
The most usual insurer of musical instruments is Allianz [previously British Reserve]. When they took over British reserve a new company was established by some previous employees; this company is Newmoon Insurance.

The Vision of The Reverend Eric Johnson in Romsey Abbey during our Elgar concert

Eric is a friend I met at School about 60 years ago. He moved recently to Dorset and so had little choice about coming  at last to one of our concerts. The following (slightly edited) is from the ‘Pew Leaflet’ of St. George’s Church, Christchurch.

Two thousand years ago St. John the Divine had a vision of The Kingdom of God which he wrote down in the Book of Revelation. So have I, but my vision was more recent and I'm writing it down now. His vision of the coming of The Kingdom involved violent struggles between the forces of Good and Evil, mythical beasts, cosmic events, lakes of fire and a new Kingdom coming down from on high. My less-spectacular vision came to me sitting on a hard seat in Romsey Abbey. The fact that it was a church doesn't really come into it, it could have been any large, indoor space. The occasion was a concert of works by twentieth century English composers, given by the City of Southampton Orchestra. My friend of long standing, Chris Anthony, was playing 'cello.

As the evening progressed I got to thinking about what was actually going on. There was all the physics of sound, vibrations in wood and brass, strings and percussion, transmission through the air, the biology of hearing - but more than that there was the human side.

Here were about sixty musicians from all different backgrounds, different ages, men and women playing different instruments, all working together to create a unique, musical happening. Each had his or her individual skills and accomplishments. They had obviously rehearsed conscientiously to interpret the dots on the pages according to the wishes of their conductor, with respect to the intentions of the composers, and together they created, by integration of their skills, rapturous, living music in the experience of their audience. To me this was a vision of the way people can work together, uniting their varied skills to create transcendent harmony and beauty. To me, it was a vision, a model, of the way men and women  can express love and create peace and justice in our sometimes sad world. When it happens it is what I think of as the Kingdom of God.
